iTILT (Interactive Teaching in Languages with Technology)

|Kurzinhalt:||iTILT 2 (Interactive Teaching in Languages with Technology), a European project funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme (2014-17), investigated the effective use of interactive technologies for task-based language teaching (TBLT). The project built on, and extended, the EU project iTILT (interactive Technologies in Language Teaching) funded by the European Lifelong Learning Programme (KA2 Languages, 2011-13), which focused on the interactive whiteboard (IWB) for teaching foreign languages. iTILT 2 moved beyond the IWB to focus on developing effective teaching and learning of second languages with a wider range of new and emerging interactive technologies, such as iPads and videoconferencing software. The educational contexts varied from primary and secondary schools, to vocational colleges and universities.
A central feature of the project was the role of teachers from different countries and different age groups as co-researchers with the project team to develop innovative ideas on how to use new technologies in teaching and learning languages. The project was grounded in current classroom practice (provided by the teachers and schools), but also reflected expertise of effective language teaching and effective teaching with technology, provided by the research team. Subsequent lessons were videoed and extracts from the lesson, along with supporting materials, were added to this website. In addition, the project developed a Handbook of Interactive Teaching of Languages with Technology, which is a valuable resource for both pre-service and in-service teachers of languages – and will soon be available on this website
